LIVING THE DREAM

SHOTGUNNING A BEER INSIDE A TREE

So I'd like to briefly outline the official Beard Hour Cross Country Vacation Time Event, sponsored by White Toyota Corolla with brand new solid-gold clutch and aprox. 1762 cc's of raw, whining power (possibly for sale, in case your interested), before my brain suppresses, like, the last month entirely. So here it is in outline form, hopefully more pictures will make it up onto the site, but Nate has most of the good ones and I'm unfamiliar at the present with the features of PhotoBucket (don't ask). Also, this is best read while listening to the song Hustlin' by Rick Ross, which we started out practically every day listening to:

Seattle
-Juiced! Discovered the true power of Tony Lalanne's Epic JuicerĀ© by creating the most unholy combinations of fruit/vegetables and practically kilos of garlic. Exactly as good/bad as it sounds.
-Honey Hole! Nate and I darkened the doorway of this fine establishment every single day that we were in Seattle. Mostly because we knew we could find it without problem.
-Boris! Nate just about fell asleep during their set, despite, like, being in the same room with the Japanese band. Doomriders opened. They are from Boston.
-Other stuff: thrown fish, arrested development 3 in its entirety, more juice, creme brulee by Fancy Kyle

Portland
-Cut a promo for the Beard Hour (produced by DJ THE SNAKE)
-Allergies!
-Burritos! I think we ate nothing but burritos for something like 8 straight meals. Also, found Emily Pitti (of Ctown) chilling outside of this one burrito place. Small world, or just good burritos in Portland? Definitely not the latter.
-Some other stuff I can't remember.

Redwood Forest/Sonoma Valley
-California Love! Drove through the tree etc... Bought a handle of Makers Mark for 29 bucks at a Rite Aid of all places (basically a legendary purchase, if these things mean nothing to you). Vineyards. Vintage convertible VW beetle. Huge trees. Living Stump (ask Nate). Etc...
-Unfortunately did not actually listen to the song California Love by Tupac, despite our numerous accapella renditions (also, wtf is with the weird vocoder'd outro on that song? does it make even the slightest lick of sense?)

San Francisco
-didn't see/do much. Went to PF Chang's China Bistro. Made the claim that I would never drink beer again, only whiskey.
-Had a beer like 3 hours later.

Death Valley
-Hottest! Driest! Lowest! place in N. America. All things that the Beard Hour fully supports.
-Cell Phone! Lost, in case your trying to get in touch. Lost to that harsh mistress the desert.

Grand Canyon
-Cold, rainy, almost couldn't see the Canyon at one point. But hey, you can't really complain when you're at truly the grandest of canyons.

Marfa
-Pop. 2000! But we met at least half of them. Saw Jenny Lewis and the Watson Freaks, I mean, Twins. Saw a bunch of ART, did not see the Marfa Lights.
-Might be moving to Marfa in 2007, stay tuned.
-Really too much to put up, but hopefully some of the pictures will make it up.

Abilene
-Visited family/friends, boring stuff for you, dear reader.

Little Rock
-Beer with Egg! Finally drank the oft-talked about beer with a raw egg dropped in it. Tasty. Did not have a burrito eating contest.
-Did not see Gary (and yes, I am shaking my head, Gary)
-Made the claim that I am only going to drink Peroni beer, if beer at all.

Memphis
-Sun Studio, Stax Museum, and Graceland!
-I'm getting tired so you'll have to imagine what we did in Memphis, besides listening to Three 6 Mafia and watching Sixteen Candles. Seriously.

Nashville
-Went to the super huge line dancing bar. There was no one there.
-Nashville has a full-scale replica of the Parthenon. Did you know that??

And then back to Ctown! Very excited to be back sortof, at least for the radio show: listen in this Thursday for the return of Beard 1 and probably alot of questionable trashy europop beatz. I'm not even sure if I'm joking about that.

Nate and I would like to thank the true sponsors of our trip, those that let use sully their domains with our, um, presence: Fancy Kyle, The Snake et al, Nan, Lucy B., Rachel+Chase, Mikey P., Incomparable Rebecca S., and of course the Granparentz. Apologies to those that my brain is missing, you know who you are!

Trees! Is there anything they aren't good for!?!? Now I've seen it all! Looks like it was a great trip. Hopefully I'll see you guys over Thanksgiving.

The Arkansas River weeps

caleb you shot-gunned a beer under the great red....that shit is hot!
